First Trimester | My Favorites

I’ve been in the second trimester for a couple weeks now, so I wanted to document the things that really helped me get through those first few tough months and are even helping me still today.

1IMAK compression Pain Relief Sleep Mask – I have been getting headaches and migraines often so far this pregnancy. I was telling Peter besides my beloved pillow which I will explain more about below, this has been the best purchase so far during this pregnancy. When I get headaches I like something tight around my head to help with the pain and pressure. I used to wrap a t-shirt around my head semi-tight, which did the trick, but this thing totally takes the cake in that department. It has gel beads in it and has the perfect amount of weight to make your head feel so much better. You can even put it in the freezer. It also blocks out all light. I go to bed pretty early, sometimes when it is still light out, and this mask helps me to fall asleep fast. If you suffer from headaches or migraines, I HIGHLY suggest this mask.

2. BKR water bottle  1L  – I had the smaller version of this (500ml) and I switched to the larger version (1L) since I have been drinking so much water lately. I love the simple design. I love that it’s glass. It’s a splurge for sure, but worth it because I use it all day, every day. And it’s so pretty to look at.

3. Bumpnest Pregnancy Pillow Pillow – Oh this pillow. I thank the heavens for it daily. I wouldn’t be sleeping a wink without it. I was a stomach sleeper before getting pregnant and this keeps me on my side with my back supported. It has a removable cover, which is so nice, so I  just throw it in the wash when I wash our bedding. I have been sick and in bed a lot. This pillow has helped me rest, and recover.  Love, love, love it. EDITED — This pillow is unfortunately not available anymore. But here is one that is very similar.

4. Bringing up Bebe  – I really enjoyed the thoughts and tips in this book. I found myself nodding right along saying “Yep. that makes total sense” If you are looking for an interesting read about how French parenting differs from American parenting I recommend you read this book. I am also looking forward to reading Bebe Day by Day, written by the same author.

5. Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter – I love that this stuff is unscented. My belly has been getting itchy and this has helped. I put it on nightly.

6. Rainbow Light Prenatal vitamins  – I started out taking a gummy prenatal at the beginning of my pregnancy, and then about gagged them up after the first month. I couldn’t take it anymore. The taste just grossed me out. These Rainbow Light vitamins have been great. Easy to digest and I have felt no side effects from them.

7. The bump app – This app has a great week at a glance, for each week of your pregnancy. It also has a helpful community, with a sometimes very entertaining message board. It’s nice to hear from other pregnant women about the same things that I am going through. I hop on this app daily.

8. Cerave PM moisturizer – My skin has been pretty dry, and this is my go to for keeping my skin moisturized. I use this every morning before applying my makeup, even though it’s for nighttime.

Do you have any pregnancy favorites? I would love to hear about them!

The next adventure

Hello strangers! I have been super MIA on here for quite a while. That is due to a lot of things, but mostly being super busy at work! There are lot’s of fun things in the works over there, and it keeps me on my toes. I have neglected this space horribly, and now that I am starting to feel a bit better, I hope to be more present here.

I wanted to fill you in more about our next grand adventure: We’re expecting a baby in November!

What a great little surprise. We are thrilled. Excited. Nervous. Feeling all the feelings that soon-to-be new parents feel. We weren’t planning on having kids for a few more years, but life has grander plans.

Back in early March, I was feeling extremely tired. Like falling asleep on the couch every night at 6pm kind of tired. I didn’t think much of it, because Ali and I had just returned from a work trip in Toronto, and it always takes me about a week to adjust back to normal life after those crazy fun filled weekends. But then I was eating everything in sight, and I realized my period was a few days past due. I decided to just take a test, because I knew it would be negative (HA!). I stood in the bathroom with Charlotte at my feet staring at me. When I saw that little plus sign appear, I about fell down. I covered my mouth and laughed for about 2 minutes in disbelief. I just couldn’t believe it. I was home alone, Pete was due home from work at any moment  and (note to self- never take a test alone again) those 10-20 minutes waiting for him to get home felt like eternity. I paced around the house, smiling, laughing, tearing up at the thought of how much our lives were going to change. I kept looking at Charlotte and screaming. Charlotte! I’m going to have a baby! What!?

When Pete walked in the door, I held up the test and said “Well, I think I figured out why I’ve been so tired lately.” He immediately ran over to me, glanced at the test, and looked at my with those eyes I love so much. He had the biggest smile on his face. We smiled at each other, both communicating the same thing with our shocked gazes: We are going to be parents. This is the best.

I’ve been pretty sick for the past few months, and haven’t been able to eat much. Ginger ale and English muffins have been my lifesavers. Since I’ve entered the second trimester recently, I’ve felt quite a bit better. Still super tired though, and still getting a little sick at nighttime. I go to bed early, and wake up early. Mornings have turned into my most productive time. I pick up the house, start laundry, etc. I kind of love it. Pete has been great at helping out too and has been so great at taking care of me. So thankful for him.

Speaking of thankful, I’m due about week before Thanksgiving. What good timing. We are already so thankful for this little one.Our lives are going to change in the craziest, best ways possible, and we are so thankful for this next chapter. Even if it is coming a bit sooner that we had “planned.” Oh life planning. It never goes the way you thought it would.

We have decided not to find out the sex, and are waiting to be surprised. This is so unlike me, as I am a very inpatient person. But for some reason, I’m okay with it.

We’re so ready to meet you baby Jaeger. We can’t wait to kiss your sweet face.

I’ve Got My Eye On You | Fall/ Holiday

Hello November. The weather is getting chilly, we are turning on the heat in our house, wearing socks around the house on the hardwood floors, putting the heavier duvet on the bed, getting ready for the holidays. Ahh. My favorite time of year. A time of family and friends and celebrating

I’ve put together a list of some things I’ve got my eye on this month. Some of these I’m considering giving as gifts and some I things I might treat myself to.

  3. Oh La La Keychain from I love almost everything puts out. This keychain is super fun and girly. My fave. I love a little Oh La La in my life.

  6. Suede Booties from Forever 21. I’m a fan of the buying inexpensive boots from places like Forever 21 and Old Navy each season. Sometimes they even last beyond that.
  7. Geometric Necklace from Kate Spade Saturday. This necklace would be the perfect accessory for a holiday party.
  8. T-shirt from Forever 21. Love a good graphic tee.
  9. Striped Tea Towel from West Elm. Love the graphic black and white. Would love to include these in gifts for my friends and cousins.
  10. Copper Mugs from Crate and Barrel for Moscow Mules. I know exactly who I’m going to give these to for Christmas. And this is a killer price for these.
  11. Polka Dot Sheets from West Elm. Always in need of new sheets around the holidays. And I am always in need of polka dots.

Question & Answer Blog Tour

The lovely Kelly Purkey tagged me to participate in this fun Q & A blog tour. I love reading these kinds of post on other people’s blogs so here we go!

1. What are you working on right now?

Right now i’m currently working on getting caught up on Project Life. Work has been crazy lately, we have so many fun things going on, and Project Life has taken a back seat. I’m slowly getting caught up. I’m also working on some You Tube videos. I really enjoyed the one I posted a few months ago, and I have some more tutorials coming up for you guys! Please let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see!

2. How long does it take you to create a project?

It currently takes me about 1.5 hours to create a full project life spread. Choosing and printing the photos takes the longest for me. Trying to get faster and more efficient at that.

3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?

I changed this question up a bit. Here are my favorite things right now.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara. Amazing. Enough said. Crate & Barrel Edge Sparkling Wine Glasses. Love the shape of these. They make me feel fancy when I drink my cheap bubbles. Kate Spade Saturday “K” mug. Elsie gave this to me as a gift and I love it.  Perfect hot pink color. Old Navy Jersey Elbow Sleeve Dress. I probably wear this dress too much. I love it. So comfy. Beauty Blender. When I saw the price for this I went “psh. $20 bucks for a make up sponge!?” Worth. Every. Penny. My makeup lasts all day and its gives off almost an airbrushed look. I’ll do a video about it soon!

Swipe to the left to view photos of products on your mobile.

4. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?

Instagram is how I am getting most of my inspiration these days. I spend too much time on there scrolling through the lovely images of peoples lives. Pinterest is always an endless source of inspiration. I love getting lost in all the beautiful images.  Movies are also such a large source of inspiration. I love love love movies, and am continually inspired by all of their greatness. Also, lately I’ve been super inspired by traveling locally and discovering all of the beautiful things Oregon has to offer.

5. What is my signature style?

Minimal. Modern. Classic. White white white + pops of color. Usually pink or yellow.

I’m tagging Ann-Marie Espinoza and Marcy Penner.

If you would like to play along leave your blog link in the comments!

I’m Still Here.

Hello lovely readers!

I’m still here, I promise. I took an unintentional break from blogging but I’m back and ready to jump right back in.

This summer came and went in a flash. And could quite possibly have been the fastest, most fun, most stressful, most emotional summer of my life.

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

Mid-July we went camping with Ali’s friends and family. Now– i’m not the camping type, but these guys got it right. The weekend was filled with good food and great company. Oh and drinks. There were a few of those. I even bought these plastic champagne glasses for the prosecco I brought along. Gotta have those bubbles.  Charlotte had a blast playing with the other dogs and it was fun to just let her run around and not have to worry about her. I can’t wait for next year.

I designed some custom letterpress plates, and made some journal cards for my Paris 4×6 album. Super excited about these. I’ve been thinking for a long time about opening up a shop. I’m still working out the details on this. Stay tuned.

We traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee for a week to work on fun stuff to do with Ali’s new website. We spent a night out at April & Greg’s farm (owners of Studio Calico). We are lucky to call the people we work with good friends. It was a fun night filled with awesome conversation.  It was a full week of meetings, meetings, and more meetings. Which only means we have some really fun stuff in store for you coming soon.  Can’t wait for you all to see all the fun things we have planned.

I’m so happy, relieved, and proud of Ali launching her new website. We (Ali, me + a group of amazingly talented people) have been tirelessly working on this website for quite some time. I couldn’t love it more, and am so excited for this next chapter for Ali and for myself. Exciting things are happening around the office. Intense work=Intense rewards people.

This one celebrated her 1st birthday. Miss Charlotte Jaeger. We love her so much. She is a cuddle bug. She loves her brother Carl to the moon and back. He loves her too, maybe not as much, but he cuddles back most of the time. She loves her banana+ yogurt biscuits, tennis balls, sleeping on the back of the couch like a cat  and watching TV.

My sweet sister is due November 3rd (!!!) and I along with two of her friends + my mom threw her a baby shower mid-August (I’ll share the full details soon.) Reality is setting in that this baby is going to be here very soon and our family is ecstatic. We are so ready to welcome this sweet little girl into our lives.

I’m iPhone-less. All of a sudden it just stopped charging. I’ve tried most things to fix it, but no dice. I’m impatiently waiting to pre-order the iPhone 6. Pretty pumped about it. For now, i’m using my iPad to text message and use Instagram. Yes, I’m that person who is taking photos with their iPad. It’s quite hilarious.  I would be lost without it though. I think this has taught be a good lesson in that I don’t always need to have my eyes glued to my phone + my Instagram feed.

I’m starting to work on Project Life again! I have almost 17 weeks to catch up on (eek). I’m getting organized and will be sharing here soon– I promise!

I had a couple things that happened to me over the summer that rocked me to my emotional core and i’m just now starting to come out of the funk that they spiraled me in to. I won’t be specific here, but let’s just say I’m thankful for the people that are in my life.

I’ve learned some key things about my self through this funky period.

I’ve learned I need to say no to people more.

I’ve learned I need alone time.

I‘ve learned I need to bring random dance parties with Pete back into my life. They make me so happy.

I’ve learned that Netflix is my saving grace at the end of a long day.

I’ve learned even more how lucky I am to have such a supportive best friend and husband. His hugs can cure almost anything.

Happy to be here writing again. Bring it Fall. I’m ready for you.

Let’s Talk About Videos.

Memory Keeping Videos? |

I was full of nerves as I posted my first video the other day on Youtube. I’m still learning about this new to me world of video blogging. I need to learn more about how to achieve optimal video quality and lighting, etc and how not to say “um” a thousand times.

I found it was a lot easier for me to talk about what I was thinking vs. writing it out. Blogging is still so new to me–I love it, but I’m still trying to find my voice and I’m learning as I go.

Now what I do know how to do is talk. I’m a talker. After posting that video, I thought– “Hey! I could do this again!’

So with that being said…Would you guys be interested in seeing bi-monthly videos from me on a variety of subjects? The main focus would most likely be about my experience as a beginner in the memory keeping world and what I’ve learned along the way.

This makes me excited.

I would love to hear what you think. Do you have any specific questions or topics you would like to have answered/covered?

Video | My Everyday Makeup Routine

Hey Guys!

Today I’m attempting to pretend like I know what I’m talking about.
I’m chatting about my everyday makeup routine. I go through my whole process in the video above showing step by step instructions.

These products are listed in the order I use them.

Thanks for watching and for forgiving the poor video quality (promise to fix this in the future!) and my 100 awkward and nervous “um’s.” I threw this together quickly and tried not to think about how horrible it might look 🙂

Let me know If I can answer any questions!

DIY Watercolor Table Runner

DIY Watercolor Table Runner |

For the bridal shower I threw last weekend, I wanted to have a pop of color on the table that was separate from the flowers.

This tablecloth was the perfect solution for that. It was budget friendly, easy and so cute!

Supplies needed:

I used extra washi tape I had lying around to measure the table size. This gave me a good place to plan the table layout. I mocked up the table settings when I finally had all of the supplies. I was so happy I did it beforehand. It made the set up go much quicker.

Leave a foot of leftover paper at each end to wrap underneath the table. I used glue dots to adhere them (one of my favorite products ever–so many uses!), but you could use tape just as easily.

I stuck with light pastel colors. Yellows, oranges and pinks. I repeated a polka dot pattern over and over after a few practice rounds of different designs.

Using the least amount of water possible on the spouncer is ideal. You may need to go over each dot a few times to make sure you get the best color.

It took me about 45 minutes to complete 3 table runners.

When finished, let the paper dry overnight. Roll up them up and secure with a rubber band.

The colors ended up drying a lot lighter than what goes on the paper at first which I was happy about.

I loved that I could just tear this up and throw it away after it was all over. It served it’s purpose, and then I could be done with it. I am so often left with remnants of parties I throw, and I never know what to do with it all.

This could definitely be adapted for all sorts of holidays or occasions. I was so happy with the results of this and will definitely be using this idea again.

Happy painting!
